Plot: When Faith is kidnapped Buffy and Willow are forced to confront some issues that they have both been trying to avoid.
Review: This was the first B/W piece I read and I still love to re-read it. There are two follow-ups, Luck of the Draw and Walking After Midnight which are, if possible, even better than this piece. Clear... and Luck... are written from Willow's point of view and you can almost hear her saying the thoughts, particularly her famous rambles. The final story in the series is written from Buffy's point of view, for reasons that become clear part way through, but although the tone is different the sweet innocence of the tales is not lost. What makes this story stand out is the quiet depth of the writing and way the author has managed to capture the characters of Buffy and Willow so perfectly. Even if Buffy/Willow is not usually to your taste, this story is not graphic and the affection between the two characters is uplifting. And so clear...

Plot: Each member of the Gang writes a letter to the big fella in a red suit. Against all the odds, he takes pity and sets about granting their wishes...
Review: This was written and set during the fourth season but that is barely noticeable here. Janine seems to have had a lot of fun granting all our characters wishes, some of them very creatively, and this is a fun romp around Christmas. There is a sequel, which is much darker, but this will have you laughing out loud and booing or hissing the villains in true Christmas style. Her original characters, especially Santa's elves, are beautifully drawn and I became surprisingly attached to them as the story unfolded. I can't tell you much about the plot without giving the game away, all I can say is if you need cheering up this Christmas go and read this - your tears will be from laughter.

Plot: This is a reflection piece. Basically, it's Faith thinking about Buffy in her cell, and doing some angst-ing.
Review: This is an internal dialogue piece, which is not an easy thing to do and keep interest. The author caught Faith's voice well and gave some interesting insights into the character.

Plot: A mysterious bond forms between Buffy and Giles and our heroes have to work out what it means.
Review: There are some side-splittingly funny scenes in this series (most of them occurring when 'the bond' plays its part) and also some incredibly tender moments as Buffy and Giles begin to explore their relationship and what their bond actually means. Each part of the series reads like its own little episode, but at the same time there is the overriding arch of 'the bond' plot line. The story began during the third season, so some of the canon history was re-written as this went on, and has now expanded to a couple of years after Buffy starts college. This means that the series has plenty of meat to it and the storyline becomes more complex with each part. I loved this series, every four times I read it!

Plot: Getting into the festive spirit, Willow organises a Christmas Formal at college. Guess Buffy needs a partner...
Review: JGB's stories are always warm and loving, and this one is no exception. She has a wonderful grasp of all the characters, particularly a certain Slayer and her Watcher, so you can almost see and hear them saying her lines. This is another Christmas-themed fic, but it's also a chance for those of us who wished Buffy and Giles had danced at the Prom to live vicariously. The action is set in season five, but there aren't actually any spoilers, and it's well worth taking a look at this one. If it can't make you forget your Scrooge tendencies, nothing will.
