Plot: A virtual spin-off series for Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Review: Now that the final episodes of Buffy have aired and we're all starting to go through withdrawal, this is a welcome slayage-fix :-)
A lot of work goes into any virtural series and this is no exception. I was intrigued by the idea of a Buffy spin-off, not certain whether I'd like whatever the authors set up, but after a couple of episodes I can honestly say that this is great. The head writers are well-known in the Xena world (so I now have to hunt down any other Buffy fic they've written) and they have a large staff of artists, writers and techy folks to make this special. So far the eps have been well-written and beautifully presented.
Each episode is only up for one week, but the site owners have promised that there will be re-run weeks so you can catch up on any you've missed. Another tip is to read the backstory because it gives a lot of set-up for the series. Lastly - enjoy this :-)

Plot: With the Council's support now withdrawn, Giles faces deportation due to the lack of his green card. It's up to the Gang and Buffy to foil those plans. There's only one snag...
Review: Katyd bravely tackles something that has been the subject of several B/G fics and manages to surpass them all. The fic is still in the process of being written but there are ten parts out there so far and each one has been worth the wait. This is set after the end of season three so there are some changes from season four canon, although I think those changes are ones most of you will approve of. All the Gang get their chance to shine and for once it's not only Xander who gets the best lines. But it's Buffy and Giles who really steal the show. Telling you where my favourite scenes are would spoil the plot, but there are some that just left me giggling so hard I didn't know what to do with myself!
There is a pairing in this fic that may surprise some of you though...

What Anya Knows

Plot: Willow finds understanding in a place where she least expected it.
Review: This is a little sad, a little bittersweet and quite moving. It's short so on one level there isn't a huge amount to say without explaining the entire plot.
In some ways it's a mood piece rather than a dramatic piece. It's about connection and need. It's also slightly sweet and shows a remarkable understanding of Anya's character as well as Willow. The setting is sometime in season-seven, pre-Kennedy, with all the baggage that brings, and the writer does a great job of conveying the emotions that both characters are going through.

Plot: Post 'Chosen' series that continues where season 7 left off
Review: This series is one of the best written fanfics i've ever stumbled across. Plot and character development are amazing (though a decent beta wouldn't hurt their cause) and it just feels like a story that Joss would tell. Funny and gripping, this series was the only one of the numerous season 8's out there that left me with the same feelings of horror, happiness, ROTFLMAO and crushing sadness that Buffy gave me.

Plot: Buffy, Willow, Giles and Xander accidentally fall into the Hercules universe.
Review: It's very well-written and the characters' voices all 'sound' just right, especially Xander and Giles. Even if you haven't seen Hercules and Xena, there's just enough info for you to understand what's going on and to really get you interested in those characters. The combination of humor and serious moments really makes it feel like a Buffy episode. And when it's funny (which is a lot) it's like ROFL funny. It's very long but reads very quickly and you'll find yourself wishing there was more of it.
Note: Set during Buffy's Season Three.
