Plot: Willow and Angel are caught in a 'maelstrom of truth'...
Review: From the first attention-getting paragraph to the final touching surprise, 'Path Less Traveled' held my interest. I had to read it in one sitting. The characters were 3-dimensional, the dialogue was clever and in character, and the story line was very entertaining. Action, angst, humor, romance; all the things we've come to expect from the world of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Also, very few typos or mispelled words (sorry...these bug me). Easy to see, good contrast between type and background.
I reccomend all of the stories at this website. Consistantly good!

Plot: The appearance of a mysterious book changes Buffy and Giles' relationship, but why? And can the change be permanent?...
Review: Gabi has written many fics, and she has turned into one of my favourite writers, so it's not surprising that this ranks as one of my favourite B/G fics. It's well written, despite English being her second language, and has an unusual approach to the relationship. It was written during the summer after Graduation so some events are different to the series canon (obviously). Giles owns a bookshop, the Library, and Buffy works as his assistant. During this time they become closer and when a strange order of books arrives it's only natural that they break the monotony of owning a quiet bookshop by reading them.
What the books cause forces both characters, and also the readers, to examine their relationship and results in a surprisingly honest relatioship fic. Mixed in with some deep thoughts are some appropriately funny scenes (as well as the odd steamy one) and it all combines into a beautiful fic. If you haven't read B/G before (and you're of age) go read this one. It's worth it.

Plot: Going out of town to hunt for an amulet, Buffy and Giles get stuck in some snow. But help is at hand in the form of a mysterious farmhouse and our daring duo have to spend Christmas together...
Review: Not only is this fic fun, it's also sweet, loving and has a little bit of a mystery in it. Gail has a lot of fun with the characters, which comes through in her writing, and I can guarantee there are several scenes that will have you in stitches. At the same time, there are some heartbreakingly beautiful scenes and the twist will probably leave you gaping, it's so unexpected. Don't miss this one if you're able to read it.

Plot: After the events of Bad Beer, someone has to look after Cave-Buffy. Guess who...
Review: You remember Bad Beer? Tried to block it out of your memory? Succeeded? Anyway, this is one of the many B/G Shipper responses to that episode. Most of them were much better than the actual episode (although that isn't hard) and this is one of the best of the bunch. The Cave-Slayer concept is used wonderfully, Giles is flustered (always fun) and I almost killed myself laughing in places. The antics of prehistoric Buffy, and her attempts to thoroughly confuse her Watcher, are great fun and it's even more fun watching him try to resist her. Considering the episode it sprang from, this is a real treat (if you're of age) and the ending is sweet without being sickly. Just go read it. Now. Selenay want feedback...oops, regressed *giggle*

Plot: Each member of the Gang writes a letter to the big fella in a red suit. Against all the odds, he takes pity and sets about granting their wishes...
Review: This was written and set during the fourth season but that is barely noticeable here. Janine seems to have had a lot of fun granting all our characters wishes, some of them very creatively, and this is a fun romp around Christmas. There is a sequel, which is much darker, but this will have you laughing out loud and booing or hissing the villains in true Christmas style. Her original characters, especially Santa's elves, are beautifully drawn and I became surprisingly attached to them as the story unfolded. I can't tell you much about the plot without giving the game away, all I can say is if you need cheering up this Christmas go and read this - your tears will be from laughter.

Plot: A mysterious bond forms between Buffy and Giles and our heroes have to work out what it means.
Review: There are some side-splittingly funny scenes in this series (most of them occurring when 'the bond' plays its part) and also some incredibly tender moments as Buffy and Giles begin to explore their relationship and what their bond actually means. Each part of the series reads like its own little episode, but at the same time there is the overriding arch of 'the bond' plot line. The story began during the third season, so some of the canon history was re-written as this went on, and has now expanded to a couple of years after Buffy starts college. This means that the series has plenty of meat to it and the storyline becomes more complex with each part. I loved this series, every four times I read it!

Plot: Getting into the festive spirit, Willow organises a Christmas Formal at college. Guess Buffy needs a partner...
Review: JGB's stories are always warm and loving, and this one is no exception. She has a wonderful grasp of all the characters, particularly a certain Slayer and her Watcher, so you can almost see and hear them saying her lines. This is another Christmas-themed fic, but it's also a chance for those of us who wished Buffy and Giles had danced at the Prom to live vicariously. The action is set in season five, but there aren't actually any spoilers, and it's well worth taking a look at this one. If it can't make you forget your Scrooge tendencies, nothing will.

Plot: In a new twist on 'A Christmas Carol', Ripper is visited by some ghosts while in the present Buffy begins a research project to find out about her Watcher...
Review: Over the years, there have been a lot of stories written to fill out Giles' past and this is one of my favourites. It flashes between Ripper and Buffy and for the first time we get a good reason for Giles returning to the fold. The story is well written, atmospheric and you can almost see the places Karen is describing. At the same time it's great fun for anyone who's read 'A Christmas Carol' as well as for those who haven't. If you're a Ripper fan, or a Giles fan, or a Buffy fan, then this is a story you'll love. Of course, if you can't stand any of those characters you'll probably hate it, but it gives some rare insights into all of them and is definitely a good one to read.

Plot: With the Council's support now withdrawn, Giles faces deportation due to the lack of his green card. It's up to the Gang and Buffy to foil those plans. There's only one snag...
Review: Katyd bravely tackles something that has been the subject of several B/G fics and manages to surpass them all. The fic is still in the process of being written but there are ten parts out there so far and each one has been worth the wait. This is set after the end of season three so there are some changes from season four canon, although I think those changes are ones most of you will approve of. All the Gang get their chance to shine and for once it's not only Xander who gets the best lines. But it's Buffy and Giles who really steal the show. Telling you where my favourite scenes are would spoil the plot, but there are some that just left me giggling so hard I didn't know what to do with myself!
There is a pairing in this fic that may surprise some of you though...

Review: This takes alternate universe fics to the ultimate end. Can Buffy and her friends thoroughly modern friends adapt to a fairy-tale world?
The descriptions of the alternate universe are vibrant, making me see what Buffy et al see. The characterisations are spot on for mid-season three and it's a fun romp for them all. The plot on the surface sounds improbable but Saber managed to make me suspend disbelief without even noticing I had done so, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Review: Saber is one of my favourite fanfic writers - I don't think I've read a bad one from this author. The Game is an absorbing set of stories which get darker and more dangerous as the series progresses. Some parts are so funny I had to laugh out loud and some sections left me on the edge of my seat. Saber gives plenty of attention to the other characters - Angel and Willow have some of the funniest exchanges in the series. And there are plenty of plot twists to keep you guessing until the end.

Review: This is, so far, Saber's only foray into the B/G world and but it's worth it. Saber is one of the rare authors who can make me actually laugh out loud several times in a fic. Buffy and Giles are captured well, with some wondefully tender moments as well as the outright comedy moments. The follow up, Links, picks up where Truth or Consequences leaves off and is actually one of my personal favourites. I can't say too much about it without giving away the plot of the first story, apart from saying 'read it'. If you've ever wondered whether Giles wears boxers or briefs or if a cow will object to having more than four stomachs, this is the fic for you.

Plot: Picking up where 'Chosen' left off, Buffy and the rest of the Scoobies go on to new adventures.
Review: A virtual series can work well for any show, but Buffy is the one that has shown the most variety and inventiveness in where it can go. This one is staffed and produced by several well-known Buffy fanfic writers (always a promising start), mainly Buffy/Giles writers, which always bodes well for the writing quality. Luckily, that promise is fulfilled with a very good standard of writing, development and suprisingly good original characters (one of the rare things in fanfiction).
The extras on the site are also well worth checking. The writers describe these as 'the DVD versions of Buffy' so there are fun things like Dawn's Diary and specially created extras to tie in with episodes. They also describe it as Buffy on cable - i.e. there are some episodes that may go to R or NC-17, although the majority are PG-13.
And unfortunately that adds another virtual series to the collection I follow :-)

Plot: What does the addition of supernatural-related reaps to the reaping workload, Roxy’s promotion, the addition of a new grim reaper with supernatural experience, a new sort-of boyfriend who may or may not be a pirate, and an approaching apocalypse all have in common? New grim reaper boss George doesn’t know, but she’s willing to bet that in the middle of it all the universe will kick her ass. Again.
Review: This is long, but it feels like just the right length to get all the plot in there. Dead Like Me and Buffy fit together really well here and both are set after the last TV canon for both of them. Just like in Dead Like Me George narrates and you can hear her voice coming over clearly. It's interesting to see her feelings about the Buffy universe and her descriptions of the people in it. It's also Dawn's story as she becomes a Reaper and it's interesting to see how she responds to that, and how those around her respond. The characters feel really real and like they were in both series and I can just imagine this being an episode of either of them.

Review: Nomad does perfect Aaron Sorkin - the plot is interesting, the characters are all in character and it's all very much like a West Wing episode. Except for the vampire slaying part. Most of the plot revolves around Donna learning to be a vampire slayer (with Josh getting in the way) and them trying not to let the rest of the staff find out. Which does tend to mean they get into some very interesting situations.
There are two sequels to this - I dare anyone who reads the first chapter of DtVS not to work their way through all of them.
