Breathe Out Anger

Fandom: Harry Potter
Rating: PG
Type: Slash
Pairing: Remus/OMC
Themes: Angst
Reviewed by: paranoidangel

Dated added: 13-04-2005
Length: 10-40KB
Plot: After James and Lily's deaths, Remus wants answers. It would help if he knew the right questions.
Review: This story is slash in that it briefly has Remus with some other males, but apart from that it's gen.
It's more of a mood piece than a story with a plot, but then it has Remus's life meandering really, after what happens, so it all fits together well. It does make it hard to talk about the fic without revealing everything that happens in it.
It is beautifully sad though. The fic captures what Remus must be thinking (or not thinking) and feeling, and trying to work out how to get over it. I love the little notes he writes, which give so much insight into his character, even though they don't say much. Or perhaps it's because they don't say much.

Snowstorm (Softly Falling remix)

Fandom: Harry Potter
Rating: PG
Type: Slash
Pairing: Sirius/Remus
Themes: Vignette

Dated added: 20-06-2006
Length: 10-40KB
Plot: Everything looks different in the snow. Remus/Sirius, set in their seventh year at Hogwarts.
Review: This is very understated Sirius/Remus. It's obvious how they feel about each other from what they say and what they do. Except that they never do anything obvious. There's some Sirius being Sirius and the two of them wondering how their lives are going to change when they leave school.

Water's Edge (Suite for a Lost Generation)

Fandom: Harry Potter

Length: 10-40KB
Plot: It's September of 1983, and Remus is back in Paris for the first time since before he graduated from Hogwarts. Amidst confrontations with tourists, pretty girls, and memories, a simple question from a Muggle child sets his world a little bit at ease.
Review: Remus does what looks like ordinary magic in Paris. It's very cool that he, of course, uses the Harry Potter universe magic to do it. But this is post-1981 and he and Sirius have been there before. So he tries not to remember that time, which makes for some nice angst and some happy memories that contrast nicely.

Levity

Fandom: Harry Potter
Rating: R
Type: Slash
Pairing: Remus/Sirius
Themes: Drama

Dated added: 10-08-2004
Length: Over 100KB
Plot: Remus should have known better.
Review: Remus gets very drunk. That's just one of the things I like about this story - the description of what goes through his mind at the time is so true to what it's like when drunk. There are also flashbacks to events that happen earlier in the evening that cause Remus to go out and get drunk. The slash in here isn't true love or experimentation, it's somewhere in between, which somehow makes it seem more realistic.

Seven Things That Never Happened At Hogwarts On Valentine's Day, Or Maybe They Did

Fandom: Harry Potter
Rating: R
Type: Slash
Pairing: Remus/Sirius
Themes: Drama, humor

Length: Over 100KB
Plot: 'This is the weirdest Valentine's Day yet,' Peter mused.
'But not 'ever,'' Remus said dryly.
Review: The title pretty much gives this one away. It's in seven sections, each one Valentine's Day each year the Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs are there. And playing pranks, of course. Every year they think of new and better practical jokes and James tries to get the girl. Up until halfway through when Sirius and Remus are trying to get each other. Most of the major events that we know happened to them manage to be in there but above all, it's funny. Sometimes it's laugh-out-loud funny, sometimes it's mildy humourous and occasionally it's angsty.
It also has the best title I've seen on a Harry Potter fic and a great first line. I mean, how can you not want to read something that begins: 'When James walked into the dormitory, he was pink.'
