Review: The author calls this an oddball of a series. I think it's a gem. She focuses on the relationship between Sam and Janet through the series, writing around some episodes and adding adventures of their own. The characterisation is spot-on and the chemistry between Sam and Janet sparkles. She even writes the other characters well, which is sometimes rare in slash. It's great to see friendship blossom and mature and I haven't been able to tear myself away from this for the past few evenings. Go read, now :)

Bluestoke: The Legend of Daniel, Lord of the Spacemonkeys

Plot: The legend of Daniel, Lord of the Spacemonkeys.
Review: The first thing that has to be mentioned is that this is very much an AU. Very, very AU. It's sort of based on aspects of Tarzan, with the Stargate characters subsituted into the various roles. Surprisingly, it works very well and this is in large part to Widget's writing. It's funny, hot and touching. I had a wide grin throughout and frequently laughed. Despite the far-out plot, the characterisation is pretty good and that probably accounts for a lot of the reason why this works so well. The story was obviously written with tongue firmly in cheek but it's also full of soul and it's one of the fics that I go back to whenever I need a pick-me-up.

Plot: Brass bands, a box and a very close team.
Review: There are few things that I can say about this one apart from 'Go and read it'. It's funny, has great voices for all the characters and a fabulous eye for the ridiculous. It's not very long, the team spend most of the time locked in a little dark box and there's a slight twist to the end, but that's what makes this fic so good. I think it's going to be one of the fics I go back to whenever I need a pick-me-up.

Plot: Jack and Daniel's friendship evolves
Review: I loved this series because the emotions in it were so real, and sometimes raw. The portrayal of all the team, but particularly J and D, were great but what really caught me was that the relationship was not easy and not perfect. Sharilyn managed to convey that beautifully so that I was sometimes smiling and sniffling at the same time. It's a great series and I seriously hope she keeps adding to it.

Plot: *Not* one of Jack's best ideas.
Review: This is funny. Jack gets a great idea for solving the UST between them. Which turns out to be an extraordinarily bad idea. Which we all know, but neither he nor Sam do. The funniest parts are Jack trying to explain his idea to Sam without using any words that would make it so much easier. Sam's thoughts about Jack are equally as funny, as she tries to deny to herself how much she fancies him.

Review: This is a fic that is destined to haunt me for days - that is the major reason why I'm reviewing it. You won't have that fluffy, happy, glowy feeling at the end, but that isn't why this fic was written. Some stories are supposed to make you think and feel instead of giving you the fluffies. It won't send you into a spiralling depression either, there is a note of hope throughout, but it should be read because it is beautiful and haunting.
